  • I am only traveling with 2 people. Why do I need a 14-seater van for Moraine Lake?

Due to Parks Canada regulations, private cars are banned from Moraine Lake. To enter legally as a commercial tour, we must use a vehicle with at least 11 seats.

To guarantee your entry to Moraine Lake without the hassle of public shuttle lotteries, we must dispatch our 14-seater commercial van.

This is why the base cost for Moraine Lake tours remains the same regardless of whether you are 2 people or 10.

  • What is the Best Group Size for a Private Tour?

Pricing depends heavily on whether you wish to visit Moraine Lake, due to Parks Canada regulations.

You want to visit Moraine Lake (Summer)

The Rule: Private vehicles are banned. We must legally use a commercial vehicle with 11+ seats to enter.

Implication: Even if you are a couple (2 pax), we must deploy a large 14-seater van to get you in. This makes the cost higher.

Best Value: A group of 11-14 people offers the lowest cost per person.

You do NOT need Moraine Lake or visiting in winter

Best Value: Groups of 3, 5, 11, or 14 people perfectly fill our various vehicle sizes, maximizing your budget.

(Note: For extra-large groups, we can arrange 17-54 seat coaches. Please inquire for a quote.)

  • Do you offer tours starting from Vancouver, Jasper, or Edmonton?

Our headquarters are located in Calgary.

Join-in Day Tours: These strictly depart from Calgary, Canmore, and Banff only.

Private Tours: Yes! If you wish to start your journey from Vancouver, Jasper, or Edmonton, we can arrange this as a Custom Private Tour. Please contact us directly for a bespoke quote and itinerary planning.

Since Vancouver is 10-12 hours away from Banff, customers often underestimate the cost. I recommend adding a small "Reality Check" note if you put this on the website:

Note: Vancouver is approximately 900km from Banff. Private transfers from Vancouver typically involve multi-day itineraries.

  • What areas and destinations do you cover?

Our primary expertise lies in the Canadian Rockies, but our private fleet can take you further upon request.

📍 Signature Service Area (Regular Coverage): We operate daily tours and transfers within the heart of the Rockies:

    Cities:

    • Calgary

    • Drumheller: Visits to the world-class Royal Tyrrell Museum (Dinosaurs anf fossils).
  • What exactly is "Travel Butler Service" in The Boss package?

A "Travel Butler" does more than drive. In The Boss tier, your butler:

Handles all restaurant reservations and hotel check-ins.

Performs Privacy & Hidden Camera Sweeps in your hotel rooms using professional KJB equipment.

Provides Starlink Satellite Wi-Fi in the mountains where there is zero cell service.

Acts as your personal photographer and "logistics shield," ensuring you never have to wait in line or worry about a map.

  • Can I customize my itinerary?

Black Bear Private Day & Grizzly Bear Flagship Package: Follows our optimized standard routes (Please refer to our day tour itinerary.

The Boss Ultimate Bespoke: Fully customizable. We work with you before you arrive to tailor the route, dining preferences, and activity levels to your specific interests.

  • Are national park fees and attraction tickets included?

Generally, our packages cover the vehicle and professional guide services. We can include attraction tickets (like the Ice Explorer or Banff Gondola) in your quote upon request to provide a "fully inclusive" price, saving you the trouble of booking them yourself.

  • Why is there a price difference for ending the tour in Edmonton?

Our headquarters is located in Calgary. If a tour ends in Edmonton, it involves significant "deadhead" time (the time it takes for the vehicle and guide to return to Calgary) and additional fuel. We include a relocation fee to cover these logistics.

  • What is the difference between your "Private Tour" and a standard "Car Charter"?

In many travel markets, a "car charter" typically implies just "a driver and a vehicle," where the driver only handles transportation and lacks professional guiding expertise.

Banff Bear Travel provides a "Private Bespoke Tour" experience:

Expert Guiding: Our guides are more than just drivers; they are local experts in the ecology, history, and geology of the Canadian Rockies. They don't stay in the car—they accompany you at each attraction to provide in-depth commentary.

Customized Planning: We provide professional itinerary consulting before you arrive. We tailor the route based on your physical ability and preferences, ensuring a proactive experience rather than a "you tell me where to go" service.

In-depth Butler Service: We handle the little things that matter—restaurant reservations, hotel check-ins, professional family photography, and even preparing hot tea and comfort kits onboard.

  • If I don't need the guide's explanation and just want "transport only," will it be cheaper?

No. Our pricing remains the same regardless of whether you require guided commentary. The core costs of providing a high-quality private tour in the Canadian Rockies are based on:

Vehicle Logistics: Deployment of premium commercial vehicles and high-limit commercial liability insurance.

Professional Labor: The expertise, time, and safety responsibility of our professional Driver-Guides.

Complex Logistics: Managing access permits (such as Moraine Lake commercial entry) and real-time road/weather monitoring.

Even if you choose not to have "commentary," we still provide the same premium vehicle and a professional staff member trained in safety and navigation to ensure the integrity of your trip. Therefore, no discounts are provided for "transport-only" requests.

  • I see cheaper car charters online. Why are your Grizzly and above packages more expensive?

In the Rockies, "you get what you pay for" is a standard truth. Low-cost charters often carry hidden risks:

No Legal Commercial License: Unlicensed operators are banned from entering Moraine Lake and may be stopped by park wardens, which could result in your trip being cut short.

"Drop-and-Go" Mentality: Cheap drivers may simply drop you at a crowded parking lot and sleep in the car, leaving you to figure out the trails and wait in long lines by yourself.

The Banff Bear Advantage: Our The Boss Ultimate Bespoke include "Butler Service." We secure hard-to-get tickets, guide you to hidden spots away from the crowds, and handle all mountain emergencies (such as sudden road closures or weather changes) so you don't have to.
